Seems like this should be an easy one. Motorola created a 2nd gen of their smart watch and made a sport version, so it should be way better, right? Not so fast. This post is to show my experience with the Moto 360 and the Moto 360 Sport.

First, I should note there are several different versions of the Moto 360. The difference is really all about the look. The guts are the same for all the 1st gen moto 360s just as all the 2nd gen moto 360s have the same insides.
I have the two watches pictured here. I initially bought the Moto 360 1st gen because I love tech gadgets. Turns out, it did way more than I expected. You can actually give voice commands to these watches. For example, you can be driving, and ask the watch to “navigate to Walmart” and not only does it pull a map up on the watch for turn by turn, but it pull the GPS up on your phone and starts the navigation! Very cool if you do not have GPS built into your vehicle.
My 1st gen Moto 360 works great and looks fantastic, even in a suit. It is very easy to change the watch face, and there are a ton of apps that integrate. It will track your steps and heart rate, and notify you when you receive messages or calls. Its a caller ID when you don’t have your phone in your hand.
So why did I purchase a second Moto 360? I love gadgets, but I love fitness just as much. While my silver moto 360 looks good in a suit, not so much in the gym. Not to mention the sweat all in that silver band is not a long term good idea. When Motorola came out with the Moto 360 Sport I jumped right on it. The rubber band is perfect for the gym, and I still get all the other features.
I have kept my moto 360 1st gen because it is actually a larger face, and works just as well. The silver band has a very nice look to it. The great thing is I can switch between the two, and the data goes to google fit all the same. Since google fit interfaces well with so many fitness apps, it has been a great experience!
It is also important to note that all the Moto 360 watches are compatible with Android Wear: https://www.android.com/wear/
Android wear give you a ton of watch faces and lets you manage your device. This is an important feature!
To sum it up, I like them both for different reasons, but together I can seamlessly have the same interface whether in the gym or in the board room.
